Once within the Enclave visitors are treated to a view straight out of sci-fi. The settlement of sorts is carved directly into the earth and buildings are seldom perfectly squared, though this is a result more of aesthetics than lack of ability. A small space is carved above the highest point in the city, creating an artificial cavern and giving the illusion of a sky. The rock is curiously electrified, and neon is woven into the surface to provide light and atmosphere.
Natural borders within the Enclave itself occur where new construction is underway, though progress on this is measured in years thanks to a very slow growth rate. The city is trying to expand downwards to sublayer five as well, though this seems unlikely due to the current conditions.
Technology levels within the city range from high to experimental, and absolutely anything is possible if one wanders long enough. Many people bear biotech enhancements, though pures are welcomed in most areas.
Police coverage is totally nonexistant, though council-certified and heavily-equipped mercenaries are employed whenever tensions rise or trouble seems likely.
Historically, the Enclave was formed nearly fifty years ago, though the exact date is uncertain. The original structures were carved by hand, making for sharp corners and sweeping curves. As time passed, chemical carving became the norm, resulting in slightly less exact edges and significantly rougher curves. Synthetic rock capable of transmitting electricity has been developed, and is occasionally used in place of the natural rock, aiding in the establishment of lighting effects and repairs from over-sculpting.
An interesting geographical anomaly lies near the center of the Enclave, a small “park” of sorts just about the size of a 20th-century city block. The “park” actually contains petrified trees and bushes, and is forested rather thickly. The anomaly defies any sort of explanation, and as such the origins, natural or otherwise, are unknown.
