Detailed: Androids are the invention of a famous scientist named Dr. Lambert Almons. He was known to be part of the highly secretive Enclave, but after inventing the android he was put on the map. Androids are a psuedo-race of cyborgs that highly resemble humans, with their advanced AI and learning capability they quickly became one of the most impressive inventions in recent years.
Androids have been around for a good fifty years and they have increased in numbers, but not to a great extent. A large movement by humans for a limit on android production resulted in a rapid drop in their growth rate, as the humans began to feel threatened by the spread of the machines. Only about fifty or so exist in the world, and new units may only be built after a unanimous vote by a council of scientists.
Androids are initially almost like human infants, and even though they don't age they must still learn how to talk. Because they aren't given their own voice during creation, they pick up vocal patterns from humans they encounter and gradually develop their own voice comprised of different sounds, similar to how a synthesizer works. They depict humans to the greatest degree possible with two notable exceptions. Firstly, they don't age. Secondly, their voice sounds inhuman as it is made up of thousands of different sounds and does not have a single source as humans do.
