Electronic currency is the current monetary standard no matter where one goes in the world. Operating much like credit cards, they are carried in a portable device referred to as an EC stick. All of a persons money is recorded on this stick which has a direct uplink to a central financial database. The EC stick is not a free service however, and the uplink time costs the center. In order to counter this the center charges a nominal monthly percentage, a bit like banking interest but in reverse. Most people will only own one EC stick during their life, as replacements are not impossible to get, but are expensive and difficult. This is mainly due to the amount of information recorded on an EC stick for it to be viable as payment. It contains virtually all of a person's information, and for this reason it is critical that one not lose theirs. The first EC stick is free however, and is issued at birth.
There is a paper form of currency as well as the electronic, with the primary difference being the sensor chips embedded in the paper. The term paper is of course used loosely, and the actual material is closer to a light-grade cloth. The usually the only place this is used is in Shady Buisnesses, crimes, Hired Guns, and Syndicates. Because This form of the currency is VERY hard to trace, and easy to transport. So most places refuse to take in Paper Currency, since it is hard to convert it to electronic form. It isn't used just for crimes, but it is basically used for fashion also. The Rich and Famous usually carry this openly.
The Electronical Currency System came into effect about 60 or 70 years ago most people are not sure for most of the earth's past
were lost from the Archives but it seems when most of the worlds governments failed and Cities became their own Economies. So to make trade easier
the cities united to make one currency so that Trade can commerce without complications.
